Rank Advancement Handout
To Advance in Boy Scout Rank:
- Scout through First
Class
- Complete the requirements
for the rank. Demonstrate your ability to a First Class Scout or above.
Have him sign off the requirement in your Scout Handbook
- Call a Scoutmaster
for a conference when you have completed all requirements except living by
the Scout Oath/Law and Scoutmaster Conference
- Star and Life
- Complete the required
merit badges
- Complete all service
and leadership position requirements
- Call a Scoutmaster
for a conference when you have completed all requirements except living by
the Scout Oath/Law and Scoutmaster Conference
- Eagle
- Complete the required
number of merit badges
- Complete the Eagle
Project and leadership position requirements
- Call a Scoutmaster
for a conference when you have completed all requirements except living by
the Scout Oath/Law and Scoutmaster Conference
Scoutmaster Coference
- Call one of the Troop
553 Scoutmasters and request a conference.
- Any Scoutmaster can
do any conference except for Eagle Scoutmaster Conference, which will be
done by Mr Gipson. Additionally Mr Gipson would prefer to do one of
Scout through First Class and either Star or Life conferences.
- Appear before the Scoutmaster
in Full Uniform. Be prepared to demonstrate all skills for the rank
you wish to obtain, plus all previous ranks

Arrange for a Board of Review
- Successfully complete
your Scoutmaster Conference
- Call Mr Wetzell, 897-1853,
and ask to be placed on the list for the next Board of Review. Normally
Mr Wetzell needs one week lead time to establish a BOR.
- See Ms Gipson with your
Scout Handbook after completing your Board of Review. She will enter
the rank advancement in the Troop records
